Neurotoxins, like Botox®, Dysport®, Xeomin®, and Jeuveau® are used to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles to restore your confidence and youthful appearance. 

What are Neurotoxins?

Neurotoxins such as Botox®, Jeuveau®, Xeomin®, and Dysport® temporarily paralyze facial muscles where it is injected to lift the face, smoothing fine lines and wrinkles and preventing deeper lines from forming. Neurotoxin also offers a “glow” to the face.

What do I need to know before my Botox treatment?

Prior to a neurotoxin treatment a client should avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours and medications like blood thinners and anti-inflammatory medications like aspirin, ibuprofen, Aleve®, and Advil®.

What is the aftercare for neurotoxin treatments like?

After your neurotoxin treatment you should avoid laying flat for 2-4 hours, heavy exercise, touching/rubbing your face, drinking alcohol, sweating, and sun exposure. If swelling or bruising appears, apply an ice pack for relief.

Avoid facials and facial massage for 2 weeks following treatment. Full results take up to 14 days to appear and it is normal to have uneven results for up to 14 days. On average, Tox lasts 3 months.

Frequently Asked Questions

Treatments are very customizable based on a clients muscle strength in the treatment area as well as desires for movement post treatment. An example of a standard dosing would be 20 units between the brows in the “11’s” to help with frown lines and creasing between the eyes. The best way to know your dose is to sit down and consult with a provider.

Most toxins are FDA approved for 3 months, however research shows that some toxins like Jeuveau and Xeomin last longer than 3 months for most patients.

Tox takes up to 14 days to fully kick in. You may notice decreased movement within the first few days post treatment and possibly even uneven movement as the medication fully kicks in, this is normal. Wait 14 days to see your full results then during your follow up appointment providers can tweak your treatment if needed adding a few units where it may be needed to reach desired result. You must wait a full 14 days to assess the treatment.

We use a very small needle to inject neurotoxins and have devices in office to help distract from any discomfort. Most clients report little to no pain or discomfort during treatments though some areas on the face are more sensitive than others.

Some patients do bruise after treatments though we find in our patients it is not very common. Common areas that can see bruising if you are very sensitive or drink/take medication prior to treatment are around the eyes or on the forehead. Our lasers can help disguise bruising should it occur.

Botox was the original Neurotoxin. People often refer to Botox as a way to talk about Neurotoxin treatments the way they call facial tissues a “Kleenex” even though Kleenex is the brand. While Botox is without a doubt effective in preventing wrinkles from forming and paralyzing the muscle there is newer technology that studies show last longer and cost less. Daxxify is the newest neurotoxin on the market that capitalizes on the power of peptides to give a longer lasting treatment and an enhanced glow to the skin that is not found in other neurotoxin treatments. Botox lasts about 12 weeks on most patients, Daxxify can last anywhere between 3-6 months.

A Botox lip flip is when neurotoxin is injected into muscles along the lip line of the upper lip relaxing the muscles allowing the upper lip to slightly turn outward causing it to look more full and give a natural looking “pout” to the lip without using lip filler. Because you use your muscles around your mouth to talk, eat, and drink, a lip flip lasts 6-8 weeks
