Dermal fillers and Facial Balancing Greenwood IN

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers like Radiesse™ and Revanesse can restore natural volume loss in the lips, cheeks and jawline due to aging, or create shape and volume through facial balancing.

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal filler is a gel-like substance injected into an area to add volume or shape. By adding the dermal filler under the skin in precise areas it can replace volume that we naturally lose as we age, fill in deep wrinkles, add lift to certain areas, and smooth out the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

At The SKN Lab we offer Revanesse® Versa+, the RHA Collection, Redensity®, Radiesse®, and Belotero® for filler. Your injector will decide what filler is most appropriate for you during your consultation for your treatment.

What are the benefits of dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers can restore natural volume loss that happens as the body ages or create shape and volume that you may have wanted but never had naturally to create facial balancing.

Miss those perky cheeks you used to have? We can restore that volume while also adding lift to the face and decreasing the sagging into the jowl area. We can also balance the face in a natural looking way through precise injections to add shape, volume, and structure in areas that it is needed.

Where can dermal filler be used?

Dermal fillers can be used on:

  • lips
  • chin
  • jawline
  • nose
  • under eyes
  • cheeks
  • temples

What do I need to know before my dermal filler treatment?

Prior to dermal filler injections a client should avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours and medications like blood thinners and anti-inflammatory medications like aspirin, ibuprofen, Aleve®, and Advil® to reduce the risk of bruising.

What is the aftercare for dermal filler injections like?

After your filler treatment, bruising and swelling is expected. You can take Benadryl or Zyrtec, use cool compresses, sleep on an extra pillow to elevate your head at night and apply Arnica gel for relief. Although it is not commonly needed, Tylenol can be used for pain.

Avoid NSAIDs such as ibuprofen and Aleve. These can worsen bruising.

Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, hot tubs, or steam rooms for 24-48 hours. You may be directed to do a soft massage in the area treated. Your SKN Lab injector will instruct you on massaging after your treatment if necessary.

Avoid laying on your face and avoid direct pressure where your filler was injected. Allow two weeks for bruising and soft tissue swelling to resolve for final results.

As always, a two week follow up is included with your treatment to ensure the best results!

Frequently Asked Questions

Every filler in our portfolio can be dissolved with the exception of Radiesse, we do not use Radiesse in vascular areas for that reason. We would dissolve filler if a client has migration that needs to be removed before moving forward with a treatment. We would also dissolve filler in the case of a complication.

While filler “downtime” is different than what you would see with a skin treatment you could have swelling or bruising after a filler treatment. This is different person to person. Some people swell a lot after a treatment while another person might only have minimal swelling.

You should anticipate some amount of swelling for up to 2 weeks post treatment but after the first few days the swelling will have decreased significantly and the tissue will soften.

Bruising may also occur but can often be covered with make-up. You will need to be gentle on the treatment area for at least 2 weeks following your treatment, but can resume normal activity for the most part 48 hours after treatment.

Each filler and its FDA indications are different. Most fillers last between 12-24 months. Most patients come in once a year for a “touch up” to their treatment area. The filler will not be completely metabolized in 12 months.

Not everyone is a good candidate for this treatment. Sometimes what you may see as an undereye issue is really a mid-face filler issue that we would address with some cheek filler. The best way to know if you are truly an under eye filler/ tear trough filler candidate is to book a complimentary consultation with one of our injectors.
